Cardiology Job in Asheville, North Carolina

Job Description

A healthcare system in Asheville, NC is seeking a Board‑Certified General Cardiologist to provide in‑house overnight coverage for weekend cardiology services. This role is ideal for a physician experienced in managing acute cardiovascular conditions and caring for critically ill cardiac patients in a hospital setting. Primary need is Friday-Sunday night coverage, but candidates with alternative availability will be considered. Schedule In‑house overnight coverage, primarily Friday-Sunday nights.
Typical shifts:
Friday night: ~5:00 PM-7:00 AM (start may be delayed to 8:00 PM for commuting) Saturday night: 6:00 PM-7:00 AM Sunday night: 6:00 PM-7:00 AM Flexible scheduling options may be available. Clinical responsibilities Provide overnight in‑house cardiology coverage and manage Cardiac ICU admissions and ongoing care. Evaluate and treat acute cardiovascular emergencies, including STEMI, unstable ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation, and cardiogenic shock. Interpret ECGs and echocardiograms promptly and accurately. Collaborate with Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Heart Failure teams, who provide at‑home backup support. Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record. Qualifications MD or DO required. Board certified in Cardiology. Active North Carolina medical license and DEA registration required. Demonstrated proficiency in ECG interpretation and echocardiography reading. Experience managing critically ill cardiac patients and ICU admissions.
