QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Master's degree from an accredited university. 2. Michigan approval in school psychology, school social work, special education or related field. 3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with children, parents, staff, physicians and professionals in various local districts and/or agencies associated with Special Education. 4. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
1. Five years successful work experience in a K-12 setting. 2. Experience and extensive knowledge of evaluation tools and methods 3. Experience with consulting in a general education setting. 4. Extensive experience with and knowledge of behavior management principles. 5. Extensive background working with students with behavioral challenges. 6. Demonstrated skills in parent consultation and working with diverse populations within the community and home settings. 7. A record of collaborative teamwork. 8. Understanding of MTSS process and coordination desired 9. Evidence of successful experience in conducting formal as well as informal group training in behavior management, learning supports, assessment and evaluation 10. Experience in grant writing preferred 11. Keep current with State and Federal laws and regulations to support districts in writing district and school plans 12. Knowledge of current practice and research as it relates to the education of diverse populations, culturally responsive leadership and equity 13. Advanced skill in intervention review, selection and deselection based on student learning needs, evaluation of instructional continuums, and
MTSS. 14.
Ability to create high quality professional learning experiences for adult learners and to facilitate adult learners in project development and program planning. 15. Ability to develop positive and supportive relationships with classroom teachers, administrators, and staff.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO
1. Design and conduct professional development programs within identified focus areas 2. Provide leadership and instructional direction to local school districts and public school academies regarding issues of concern to special educators. 3. Consult with local school personnel on implementation of research-based strategies designed to improve the performance of students with disabilities. 4. Support local districts in evaluating, assessing and intervening with highly complex students. 5. Collaborate as a member of a local district or Macomb Intermediate School District team to provide second opinion evaluations and/or consultations for assigned students. 6. Maintain knowledge or current research, leading edge developments, and legal mandates related to instruction of students with disabilities. 7. Serve as a resource to families, school personnel, agencies, professional organizations and others. 8. Other assignments as determined by the Assistant Superintendent or designee. 9. Serve as a County liaison for local school psychologist and school social workers. 10. Participate in the development or a countywide system of information, technical assistance, training and support in the areas of evaluation, assessment, intervention, behavior and learning.
