This position involves working collaboratively with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive learning environment. The School Psychologist is responsible for assessing students' psychological needs, developing intervention strategies, and providing counseling services to enhance students' emotional and academic well-being. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify students' psychological and educational needs. Administer psychological testing to evaluate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs. Provide crisis intervention services to students experiencing emotional distress or behavioral challenges. Develop safety plans for at-risk students in collaboration with school personnel and families. Engage in case management to coordinate services for students requiring additional support. Provide child family counseling to address issues impacting students' mental health and academic performance. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and intervention strategies. Offer training and support to school staff on mental health awareness and effective strategies for supporting students. Skills Proficient in patient assessment techniques and psychological testing methodologies. Strong background in school psychology principles and practices. Experience in social work or related fields is advantageous. Knowledge of IEP development processes and case management practices. Ability to provide effective crisis intervention strategies tailored to individual student needs. Excellent communication skills for counseling sessions with children and families. Capacity to develop safety plans that ensure a secure learning environment for all students. Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds. This role is essential in fostering a positive school climate where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
