Position Summary:

The Certified Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and cognitive needs of residents in a skilled nursing facility. The Activity Director promotes resident engagement, quality of life, and individualized programming while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive activities program for residents. Assess residents' interests, abilities, and needs to create individualized activity plans. Plan and implement group and one-on-one activities, including social, recreational, educational, and spiritual programs. Organize special events, holiday celebrations, community outings, and family activities. Maintain activity calendars and communicate upcoming events to residents, families, and staff. Ensure activities accommodate residents with varying levels of physical and cognitive functioning. Complete required documentation, assessments, and progress notes in accordance with facility policies and regulations. Collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, social services, and other departments to enhance resident care. Maintain inventory and order supplies needed for activity programs. Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to activities services. Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive environment for residents and families.

Qualifications:

Certified Activity Director certification required. Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing required Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing activities in long-term care facilities. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively with residents, families, staff, and community organizations. Proficient in documentation and basic computer skills.
