2026-A Cultural Arts Theater Coordinator (9/2026)

Job Description

The purpose of this position is to develop and implement the artistic vision and provide leadership and direction for the Way Off Broadway Theater. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of leisure services to area residents. FLSA status is Non-Exempt.
PROGRAM & EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES
(35%) P lans and develops theater events. R ecruits, trains and manages volunteer staff; participates in the selection process. M anages ticket sales. S et up and breakdown at events. M aintains internal communications between staff, volunteers, and board of directors. W orks with groups within the Creative and Performing Arts Council. P lans, prepares, publicizes, executes and follows-up on theater events. A ttends meetings of councils, boards, and committees. C reates a culture that is welcoming, collaborative and productive for volunteers. E ngages with the Board of Directors around the theater's strategic direction, finances, and position within the greater community. L eads and serves as key connector for all facets of the theater with donors, audience members, civic and community leaders. O versees auditions and related activities. K eeps current with the play literature. O versees the scheduling of the calendar year: season productions, auditions, workshops an special events.
MARKETING DUTIES
(35%) P romotes events using social media, community calendars, local publications, paid radio and television ads, and live and recorded television interviews. W rites promotional materials and press releases. W rites and schedules daily social media posts for theater promotion.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
(20%) A nswers email, telephone, and greets visitors; provides information and assistance. R esearches, interprets data, and prepares reports.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES
(10%) A ssists other departments. P erforms other duties as needed or assigned. B achelors' Degree in an Art related field preferred. T wo (2) years' experience in public relations, event planning or programming. T wo (2) years' of supervisory or volunteer management experience. F amiliarity with creative concepts and an appreciation of the arts is preferred. L ocal working knowledge of area theaters is preferred. W illing to work nights and weekends. The following requirements are normal for this classification. J ob duties require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear. J ob candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress. J ob duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
City of Prattville employees are required to obtain knowledge of the City of Prattville Policies and Procedures, and knowledge of their specific department rules, policies, and procedures. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
M ust provide proof of your legal right to work in the United States. H igh School Diploma/GED. M ust possess and maintain a valid driver's license. M ust be able to lift 50 pounds. W illing to work overtime. W illing to cooperate with the workload of the department. W illing to comply with City of Prattville rules and regulations. M ust submit to drug screenings for this safety sensitive position. M ust accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.
