Salary, Exempt Primary Purpose:
The activities director is responsible for providing a comprehensive assessment and care planning of the resident's preferences for activities and conducting an ongoing program to support choices of both facility and individual activities.
Essential Duties:
This is a department head level position and requires the director to be an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team. Manages a small team of activity aides Interviews, assesses, and develops activity care plans based on resident needs and preferences. Attends resident care conferences, reassesses changes in care plans and updates families when appropriate. Maintains documentation in the resident record Develops monthly and ongoing schedules of activities Assists the residents in running the Resident Council Assists residents to exercise their rights including voting Completes training in dementia care
EDUCATION
The successful candidate will be "Qualified therapeutic recreational specialist" or an activities professional who is (A) Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreational specialist; (B) Has two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full time in an activities program; (C) Is a qualified occupational therapist; (D) Has completed an approved State training course in activities
