Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs and foster vibrant community life within a senior living environment. In this role, you will design, coordinate, and implement a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, promoting socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will create memorable experiences that enhance residents' quality of life and build meaningful connections. Duties Develop and oversee a diverse calendar of resident-centered activities, including recreational therapy sessions, social events, outings, and special programs. Coordinate resident events that encourage participation, foster community spirit, and promote engagement across all levels of mobility and cognitive ability. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, histories, and individual needs to tailor activities accordingly. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during events to ensure comfort and participation. Collaborate with staff members across departments to integrate activity plans seamlessly into overall care routines. Manage scheduling for activities staff and volunteers, ensuring timely execution of programs while maintaining safety protocols. Maintain detailed records of resident participation, feedback, and program outcomes to continually improve activity offerings. Requirements Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments. Strong background in recreational therapy, geriatrics, dementia care, or memory care programs. Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care strategies, and aging issues. Familiarity with working with seniors and individuals with disabilities in long-term or home & community care settings. Excellent communication skills to engage residents effectively and collaborate with team members. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and reporting purposes. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs that enhance resident well-being and foster community involvement.
