Job Description
Van Buren County CSD is accepting applications for an Anticipated School Nurse at the Douds Center. Questions regarding the position may be directed to Mrs. MaryDawn Schuck, Douds Center Principal, at marydawn.schuck@vbcwarriors.org or 319-293-3334.
Key Responsibilities
Provide medical care to designated students throughout the school day
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider
Monitor and document the students' health status and respond to medical needs as they arise
Implement and follow the students' Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP) and IEP.
Respond to medical emergencies and follow established emergency protocols
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers
Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines
Assist in training school staff on student-specific medical procedures as needed
Ensure a safe and supportive environment that promotes student participation in school activities
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Iowa
CPR and First Aid certification (required)
Experience with Diabetic care and Seizure monitoring.
Experience in pediatric, school, or community health nursing preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and respond effectively in emergency situations
