Occupational Health Nurse III Job Summary The Occupational Health Nurse III is an advanced occupational health nursing professional responsible for the daily administration and delivery of comprehensive occupational health services within a corporate medical clinic. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability and may support either a large, high-volume multidisciplinary clinic or a smaller, stand-alone facility clinic. The Occupational Health Nurse III provides expert nursing care for employee illnesses and injuries, supports workplace health and safety initiatives, responds to medical emergencies, and serves as a key liaison between the facility, Corporate Medical, Human Resources, and external occupational health providers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive occupational health nursing services for employee illnesses, injuries, and workplace health concerns. Independently assess, triage, and manage a broad range of employee medical needs while exercising sound clinical judgment. Respond to and, when appropriate, lead on-site medical emergencies and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Coordinate with contracted occupational health providers and serve as the local liaison for occupational medical services. Manage day-to-day clinic operations, including maintaining an organized and efficient clinical environment. Delegate appropriate clinical and administrative duties to clinic staff and provide direction and support as needed. Conduct new employee health and safety orientation presentations and other employee education programs. Maintain accurate medical records, documentation, metrics, and reports using paper records and electronic systems, including HR databases such as PeopleSoft. Serve as a liaison between facility leadership, employees, Human Resources, and the Corporate Medical Department to ensure occupational health services meet organizational needs. Partner with Human Resources and facility leadership on initiatives involving employee health, safety, productivity, engagement, and wellness. Support Disability Case Management activities and assist with employee medical and work-status needs. Assist medical staff and external entities in determining the work-relatedness of injuries and illnesses. Support compliance with applicable governmental regulations and occupational health requirements, including OSHA and ADA-related practices. Participate in workplace injury investigations and provide appropriate clinical and occupational health support. Conduct Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing and fit-for-duty evaluations. Perform OSHA-mandated medical surveillance examinations and other occupational health assessments. Support wellness communications, health promotion activities, and on-site wellness programming. Assist with special projects, educational initiatives, and occupational health program implementation. Identify opportunities to improve clinical processes, employee services, and occupational health practices. Promote innovative, efficient, and best-in-class occupational health practices throughout the organization. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee medical information and comply with applicable privacy and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois. Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and nursing skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direct supervision. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced occupational health environment. Demonstrated clinical judgment and ability to recognize when consultation or additional expertise is required. Strong commitment to employee confidentiality and professional ethics. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer-based applications. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical, HR, and occupational health databases. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in occupational health, occupational medicine, acute care, or a related clinical setting. Experience with OSHA compliance, ADA requirements, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), ergonomics, Human Resources, health promotion, emergency medical services, or employee education. Experience with employee injury management, disability case management, workplace health programs, and regulatory compliance. Occupational health or related professional certifications are highly desirable. Schedule Monday-Friday, 10:00 PM-6:30 AM Work Environment This position requires the ability to function effectively in a clinical occupational health setting while managing both routine employee healthcare needs and urgent medical situations. The Occupational Health Nurse III must demonstrate flexibility, sound judgment, leadership, and the ability to work autonomously while collaborating with facility leadership, Human Resources, Corporate Medical, and external healthcare providers.

Pay:

$45.00 - $55.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
