Public Health Nurse

Job Description

The Crawford County Health Department is seeking a part-time (8.5 to 20 hrs/wk) and PRN Public Health Nurse positions responsible for comprehensive public health nursing services that promote the health and well-being of Crawford County residents. Professional experience with children, immunization administration, phlebotomy, and WIC Program preferred.
Position Description:
Essential functions of this position are as follows: Administers the following duties: Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program Better Birth Outcomes Immunizations (Infant, Childhood and Adult) TB screenings Lead Poisoning Prevention Cardiovascular monitoring Specimen collection (urine, blood, buccal swabs, nasal swabs) Collects data Develops and implements an individual plan of care for each client based on assessment and nutritional need Refers clients to appropriate programs as needed Investigation and reporting of infectious diseases Attends meetings and conferences as directed Maintain confidentiality of all client records Perform other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse License;
  • Current CPR certification;
  • Certified Lactation Counselor preferred, but not required;
  • Computer skills;
  • Requires demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with clients, other providers, and the community;
  • Requires the ability to interact with administration, boards, public, and staff in friendly, cooperative, confidential and professional manner at all times.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently operate computer and other medical office equipment
  • Operate medical examination equipment
  • Potential exposure to infectious disease present at all times
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
  • Occasionally standing for long periods of time
