BrightStar Care is seeking compassionate, dependable, and clinically skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide one-on-one skilled nursing care to a ventilator-dependent client in the comfort of their home, in Syracuse, IN. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys building meaningful relationships with patients and families while providing high-quality, individualized care. Competitive hourly rate based on experience, credentials, and shift requirements Position Responsibilities The Ventilator Home Care Nurse will provide skilled nursing services according to the patient's individualized plan of care and physician orders.
Responsibilities may include:
Provide one-on-one skilled nursing care to a ventilator-dependent patient in the home. Safely monitor and manage the patient's ventilator and respiratory status. Perform respiratory assessments and recognize changes in the patient's condition. Monitor oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, breath sounds, and other clinically appropriate parameters. Provide tracheostomy care and suctioning as ordered and within the nurse's scope of practice. Monitor ventilator settings, alarms, tubing, circuits, and equipment as appropriate to the patient's plan of care. Respond appropriately to ventilator alarms and changes in respiratory status. Follow established emergency procedures and promptly notify the appropriate healthcare provider of significant changes in condition. Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and the plan of care. Provide enteral feeding and other skilled nursing interventions as ordered. Monitor for signs and symptoms of respiratory infection, aspiration, respiratory distress, or other complications. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Communicate effectively with the patient's family, physicians, therapists, case managers, and BrightStar Care clinical leadership. Educate and support family members and caregivers within the nurse's scope and agency policies. Maintain patient safety, infection-control practices, and appropriate emergency preparedness. Participate in care-plan updates and communicate changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate members of the care team. Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times. Provide care in accordance with BrightStar Care policies, applicable laws and regulations, and professional standards of practice. Qualifications Required Current, unrestricted RN license Current CPR/BLS certification. Successful completion of required background screening and employment requirements. Ability to meet agency health, competency, and credentialing requirements. Reliable transportation and ability to travel to the patient's home. Strong assessment, communication, and clinical documentation skills. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with the agency's clinical team. Preferred Previous experience caring for ventilator-dependent patients . Previous home health, private-duty nursing, ICU, step-down, respiratory, pediatric, or long-term acute-care experience. Experience with tracheostomy care and mechanical ventilation. Experience with suctioning, enteral feeding, oxygen therapy, and complex medication regimens. Additional ventilator or respiratory-care training. Pediatric nursing experience, if applicable to the assigned patient. What We're Looking For We are looking for nurses who are: Clinically confident
