1 Description American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Labor & Delivery (LDRP) position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and a Maine or compact RN license. Details Work in the OB unit of a 64-bed hospital with a Level III Nursery Unit averages 200 births per year with 4 Labor and 4 Postpartum beds LDRP model providing care across Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum/Couplet phases including well-baby care Low-risk patient population; high-risk patients are transferred out for delivery Patient conditions include post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers Unit also receives Med/Surg overflow patients for low-acuity needs such as IV antibiotics, swing bed, or rehab (no infectious or telemetry patients) Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 Laboring, 1:1 Active Labor, 1:3-4 Couplets, and 1:2-3 Med/Surg Rooming-in model with no dedicated Nursery or Nursery RN Shift schedule is 7P-7A, 12-hour nights, 36 hours per week Weekend rotation is every other weekend with no on-call requirements Floating may be required to Med/Surg or ED for task-only assignments (no patient assignment taken) Uses Cerner EMR Requirements Active RN license (Maine or Compact) Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required First-time travelers considered only with at least 3 years of L&D experience Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring STABLE certification must be completed within 30 days of start Experience with all phases of LDRP care and well-baby care required Skills required include shoulder dystocia management, epidural management, nitrous administration, intrathecal spinal analgesia, and neonatal care during C-sections (catching babies only, not circulating) Newborn care skills required including vital signs, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia management, bilirubin babies, and NAS babies Additional Information Care team includes a charge nurse, midwife (primary caregiver), on-call
OB, 24/7
respiratory therapy, and 24/7 hospitalist support Unit is staffed with at least 2 nurses overnight, sometimes 3 HUC support available 4 days per week; no dedicated CNA support Orientation includes general hospital orientation plus 1 shift on the unit Holiday coverage required on a rotating every-other-holiday basis Time off requests require manager approval Scrubs may be any professional color; procedural scrubs provided for OR use only Free parking is available Flu vaccination required for clearance to start, with medical exemptions only considered and subject to facility approval
