Think of this role as part nurse, part health educator, part care coordinator, and part student advocate. 🕗 Schedule Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM ⏰ Hours Full-Time | 40 Hours Per Week 📍 Location Glenmont Job Corps Center 🌟 And Yes—No Regularly Scheduled Weekends! Our students are working toward their education, career training, independence, and future employment. But it's difficult to focus on those goals when you're not feeling well. That's where our Wellness Team comes in. As a Registered Nurse, you'll help provide students with accessible, compassionate, and professional healthcare services right on Center. Your role is to help students stay healthy, address medical concerns, manage ongoing health needs, and connect with outside providers when additional care is necessary. 🩺 What Will You Do? ❤️ Provide Student Healthcare You'll help address students' everyday health needs while also being prepared to respond when something more urgent happens.
Responsibilities may include:
Assessing student health concerns Providing preventative healthcare services Responding to illnesses and injuries Providing appropriate emergency nursing care when needed Monitoring students with ongoing or chronic health conditions Following established treatment plans and healthcare protocols Determining when additional medical evaluation is necessary You'll help students understand: "Here's what's happening, here's what you need to do, and here's what happens next." 💊 Help Students Manage Their Medications Medication management is another important part of the Wellness Department. You'll help: 💊 Oversee medication administration 📋 Maintain accurate medication records 🔍 Monitor medication-related concerns 📝 Follow required documentation procedures 🔒 Protect confidential health information You'll help ensure medications are handled safely, accurately, and according to established procedures. 🤝 Coordinate Care When Students Need More Support Not every healthcare need can be handled on Center. When students need additional care, you'll help connect them with the appropriate resources. This may include coordinating referrals for: 🏥 Medical services 🦷 Dental care 🧠 Mental health services 👩⚕️ Specialists 💊 Pharmacy services 🏥 Hospitals or urgent care 🌱 Community healthcare resources You'll help make sure students don't simply receive a referral—you'll help support the continuity of their care. 🩺 Support Students With Ongoing Health Conditions Some students may arrive at Job Corps with chronic or ongoing healthcare needs. You'll help monitor and coordinate appropriate care so students can continue participating safely in their education and career training.
That may involve:
Reviewing health information Monitoring chronic conditions Helping students understand their care plans Coordinating with healthcare providers Supporting medication management Providing health education Documenting student progress and concerns Helping students learn how to take greater responsibility for their own health For many young adults, this may be one of their first experiences learning how to independently manage their healthcare. 🌱 Be a Health Educator, Too Nursing at Job Corps isn't only about treating illness. You'll maintain student health information and medical records while protecting student privacy.
Responsibilities include:
📝 Maintaining accurate health records 📋 Completing required documentation and reports 🔒 Following HIPAA and confidentiality requirements 📊 Assisting with required health and wellness reporting 💊 Maintaining medication documentation 🩺 Tracking appropriate student healthcare information Strong organization, accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail are important in this position. 🏥 Help Keep the Wellness Center Running Smoothly You'll also support the day-to-day operation of the Wellness Department.
That may include:
📦 Monitoring medical supplies and equipment 📋 Maintaining appropriate inventory 📊 Assisting with reports and administrative requirements 💰 Supporting appropriate budget and supply processes 🩺 Assisting with chronic-care programs 👥 Supporting Wellness Department operations 🤝 Coordinating with other healthcare professionals You'll help ensure the Wellness Center remains organized, prepared, professional, and ready to serve students. 🤝 You'll Work With More Than Just the Wellness Team Student health can affect every part of the Job Corps experience. You'll collaborate with staff throughout the Center, including Counseling, Residential Living, Career Technical Training, Academics, Recreation, Safety & Security, and Center leadership when appropriate. You'll also communicate with outside healthcare providers and community partners to coordinate student services. Qualification Minimum of an Associate of Arts degree in nursing. Active, unrestricted license to practice in state where center is located. Three years of health care experience, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity required. Regional approval required.
