Job Description
Overview The LowCountry Alliance for Healthy Youth Coalition is seeking a dedicated and energetic professional to join our team in promoting youth health and well-being through community engagement, education, and program development. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by working collaboratively with diverse populations, including underserved communities, to foster healthier lifestyles and prevent youth substance abuse and risky behaviors. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for public health, strong communication skills, and experience in community outreach to help advance our mission of empowering youth and their families. Duties Develop, implement, and evaluate community health programs focused on youth wellness, substance prevention, nutrition, and mental health. Conduct outreach activities within culturally diverse communities to raise awareness about available resources and health initiatives. Facilitate health education sessions, workshops, and public speaking engagements tailored to different age groups and cultural backgrounds. Utilize electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems to document client interactions, service delivery, and program outcomes accurately. Employ motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients effectively and support behavior change efforts. Collect and analyze data related to program participation, health outcomes, and community needs to inform continuous improvement. Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, educators, and community organizations to coordinate services and expand outreach efforts. Qualifications Proven experience in public health, social work, nursing, or related fields with a focus on youth or community health initiatives. Knowledge of public health law policies, Medicare regulations, addiction counseling, nutrition, and basic medical terminology. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or from underserved communities; bilingual skills are highly desirable. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report writing and data management. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, public speaking engagements, and community outreach activities. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations while demonstrating cultural competence. Familiarity with public health program planning, community engagement strategies, and data collection methods. Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), public health certifications, or relevant licenses are preferred but not required.
