Patient Registration Collect and accurately document patient demographic and insurance information in the EMR system, adhering to policies and regulatory requirements.
Obtain required signatures on all pertinent forms and ensure patient identity verification.
Discuss payment methods, collect deposits, and issue receipts. Insurance Verification Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, including coordination of benefits, copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.
Conduct pre-certifications when required and update patient records for billing accuracy. Payment Processing Collect patient responsibility payments and generate estimates for scheduled services.
Work closely with the billing department to resolve financial or collection issues. Inpatient Services Process doctor orders to ensure accurate service entries, coordinate bed assignments, and manage patient transfers or discharges.
Update the hospital census database to reflect changes in patient status. Switchboard Operations Answer incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
Activate emergency communication protocols and facilitate on-call notifications.
Use the overhead paging system to communicate critical information. Administrative Support Proficiently use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Operate standard office equipment such as printers and fax machines.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:

General experience:
2 years of general experience required for all levels (Educational Substitution for

Additional specialized experience required for the II-IV levels, in addition to the general experience listed above. 0 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) positions assigned to 8 hour shifts. Accruals for these benefits are otherwise prorated based on FTE. Pre-Employment Health Requirements Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes a drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, a tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for drug screening and blood draw for QuantiFERON and Titers, shall be borne by the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
