Department VP for Academic Affairs
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities Administrative leadership over registration, graduation, academic records, degree audit, and NCAA certification. Serves as the university's FERPA compliance officer.
Provide administrative leadership and supervision for the Office of the Registrar.
Maintain and is responsible for the integrity of all student academic records.
Sustain current and initiate new programs and services for university students and faculty.
Oversee the registration process and graduation policies and procedures.
Manage production of Academic Bulletin and its publication.
Provide leadership in the implementation of technology to enhance services to students and faculty.
Certify student-athlete eligibility.
Serve on the Academic Council and Graduate and Undergraduate Studies Committees, University Studies Committee, Academic Appeals Committee, and other committees, both at MSU and in the state, as needs are identified by the President or Provost.
Work to ensure the university's compliance with FERPA regulations.
Support the academic mission and enterprise through active involvement with academic and student affairs, information systems, and student financial services collaborations.
Provide leadership and management of the automated degree audit system.
Ensure accurate and timely data reporting in collaboration with Office of Institutional Research.
Other duties as assigned.
The duties of this position include assistance with assuring the University's compliance with rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and all member conferences. Thus, the Registrar will comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations as provided in the NCAA Division I Manual and with all rules and regulations of the member conferences. Failure to comply shall result in disciplinary or corrective action including applicable disciplinary and corrective action set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, which includes suspension without pay or termination of employment upon a finding by the NCAA Disciplinary Committee that the employee knowingly engaged in or condoned a major violation.
Minimum Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements Three years of administrative responsibility for registration and student records in a higher education institution as Registrar or Assistant/Associate Registrar
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to provide vision and leadership for the future
A robust analytical and problem-solving skill set and a record of adaptability to changing environments, policies and student needs
Experience with student information systems, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and demonstrable skills in budget management required
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications Five years of administrative responsibility for registration and student records in a higher education institution as Registrar or Assistant/Associate Registrar preferred
Master's Degree
Experience with Banner student information system, DegreeWorks, Microsoft Office Suite and Power Point preferred
