Duties Manage insurance referrals by coordinating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate timely approvals. Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and prior authorization requirements using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and other health information platforms. Ensure compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and clinical confidentiality policies when handling medical records and patient information. Utilize CPT coding, IICD-10, and ICD coding systems accurately for documentation and billing purposes. Communicate effectively with managed care organizations to obtain insurance authorizations for procedures, tests, or treatments. Maintain detailed records of all referral activities, insurance verifications, and correspondence in electronic health records (EHR) management systems. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to insurance coverage, authorization status, and billing concerns with professionalism and clarity. Training and certification In dermatology coding and billing can be an added benefit of this position Experience Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment involving insurance verification, prior authorization, or medical billing. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and medical terminology. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient privacy at all times. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and communication purposes. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally.
