RCP License Full Job Description Role Overview:
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for delivering and managing comprehensive respiratory care in accordance with physician orders and clinical standards. They act as a workgroup leader and unit coordinator , developing and modifying patient care plans, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and clinicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Acts as a Care Coordinator , provides invasive and non-invasive procedures, and serves as a respiratory consultant across hospital service lines. Demonstrates expertise in respiratory medications, clinical chemistries, and emergency airway management. Participates in quality improvement, patient discharge education, and supports clinical training of staff and students. Ensures documentation accuracy, maintains equipment, and follows infection control protocols. Contributes to patient transports and clinical trials as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Requires an Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor's preferred), current licensure , and certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and
NBRC-RRT.
Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience is preferred. Skills include excellent communication, multitasking, critical thinking, and teamwork . Proficiency in computer applications and adherence to safety and infection prevention standards are essential.
