Mercy is seeking a NICU Registered Respiratory Therapist to deliver advanced respiratory care to fragile newborns in our high-acuity NICU. In this role, you will manage ventilators and non-invasive support, perform respiratory assessments and ABGs, and collaborate closely with neonatologists and NICU nurses to develop individualized care plans. You'll educate and support families, ensure safe and effective use of respiratory equipment, and document care in the EMR. Responsibilities Provide respiratory care to high-acuity neonates in the NICU, including ventilator management and oxygen therapy Perform and interpret respiratory assessments, ABGs, and other diagnostic tests to guide treatment plans Collaborate with neonatologists, NICU nurses, and other clinicians on individualized care plans Set up, operate, and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment, ensuring proper function and safety Administer aerosolized medications and other respiratory therapies per provider orders and protocols Educate and support families on respiratory conditions, equipment, and discharge care plans Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR following Mercy and regulatory standards Follow infection control, patient safety, and NICU emergency response protocols at all times Required Skills Neonatal ventilator management High-flow and non-invasive respiratory support (CPAP/Bi PAP) Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Neonatal assessment and monitoring Respiratory equipment setup and troubleshooting Infection prevention and control Electronic medical record documentation Neonatal resuscitation techniques Aerosol and medication delivery systems Interdisciplinary clinical communication
