Job Description

Methodist Health System is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care to diverse patient populations across our Dallas facilities. In this role, you will assess patients, perform respiratory treatments, manage ventilators, and interpret diagnostic tests in collaboration with physicians and the care team. You will educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and therapies, support rapid response situations, and uphold safety and infection-control standards. Responsibilities Assess and monitor patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions Administer respiratory therapies, treatments, and medications as prescribed Set up, manage, and troubleshoot ventilators and respiratory equipment Perform and interpret basic respiratory diagnostic tests (e.g., ABGs, spirometry) Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response and code situations Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on care plans Educate patients and families on respiratory diseases, medications, and home care Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and records Follow infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance protocols Support quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives Required Skills Ventilator management Respiratory therapy procedures and protocols Arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation Spirometry and basic pulmonary function testing Oxygen and aerosol therapy administration Emergency/critical care respiratory support Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Infection control and patient safety practices Patient and family education Interdisciplinary team collaboration
