Job Description

Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio seeks a dedicated Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) to provide high-quality respiratory therapy to patients across acute and critical care settings. Responsibilities include assessing cardiopulmonary status, delivering oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, ventilator management, and airway clearance procedures. The RRT will collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to develop and adjust care plans, respond to respiratory emergencies, perform patient education, and ensure accurate documentation. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and monitor patient response to therapy. Administer oxygen, aerosol, and bronchodilator treatments per physician orders and protocols. Set up, manage, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and noninvasive ventilation devices. Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases, adjusting therapy per guidelines and in collaboration with providers. Respond to respiratory emergencies, including code situations, and provide CPR and airway support. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home care when appropriate. Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize respiratory care plans. Maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring proper operation, cleaning, and infection control. Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and ongoing education to support best practices.
