Job Description

HCA Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN to deliver high-quality respiratory care to patients in an acute care setting. You will assess, treat, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary conditions, administer therapeutic treatments, manage ventilators, perform diagnostic respiratory tests, and respond to respiratory emergencies. Collaborating closely with physicians and the care team, you'll document care, educate patients and families, and uphold safety and infection control standards while supporting HCA's culture of compassion, teamwork, and continuous learning. Responsibilities Assess and evaluate patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions Administer respiratory therapies and medications as ordered Set up, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilators and oxygen delivery systems Perform diagnostic tests such as ABGs, pulse oximetry, and spirometry Respond to respiratory emergencies and rapid response calls Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team on patient care plans Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and equipment use Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record Maintain equipment and follow infection control and safety protocols Required Skills Respiratory assessment Ventilator management Arterial blood gas analysis Respiratory therapy equipment operation Oxygen and aerosol therapy Emergency respiratory care Patient and family education Electronic medical records documentation Infection control practices Interdisciplinary teamwork
