About the
Role:
As a Speech Therapist, you will play a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders in pediatric populations within clinical and educational settings. Your work will focus on early intervention strategies to support children with articulation difficulties, language disorders, and conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder. Collaborating closely with physical therapists, educators, and families, you will develop individualized therapy plans that promote effective communication and enhance overall developmental outcomes. You will also contribute to school programs by providing specialized support and training to staff and caregivers, ensuring a holistic approach to each child's progress. Ultimately, your expertise will empower children to overcome communication barriers, improving their social, academic, and personal lives significantly.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. Valid state licensure or certification to practice as a Speech Therapist in the United States. Experience working with pediatric populations in clinical or educational settings. Strong knowledge of speech therapy techniques, early intervention practices, and language disorder management. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapists and educators.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Autism Spectrum Disorder interventions or specialized training in this area. Experience implementing speech therapy programs within school systems. Familiarity with assistive communication technologies and augmentative communication devices. Additional credentials such as Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Experience working in diverse healthcare or social assistance environments.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for children referred to therapy services. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans targeting articulation, language development, and communication skills. Collaborate with physical therapists, educators, and families to integrate therapy goals within school and home environments. Provide early intervention services to support children with developmental delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Document patient progress and adjust therapy approaches based on ongoing assessments and clinical observations. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and share insights on patient development. Educate parents, caregivers, and school staff on strategies to support speech and language development outside of therapy sessions.
Skills:
The required skills such as speech therapy, early intervention, and articulation are essential for evaluating and treating children with communication challenges on a daily basis. Knowledge of language disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder enables the therapist to tailor interventions that address specific developmental needs effectively. Working in clinical settings demands meticulous documentation and adaptability to evolving patient progress. Preferred skills like familiarity with assistive technologies and specialized certifications enhance the therapist's ability to provide innovative and comprehensive care, improving patient outcomes. Successful completion of a pre-employment background and reference check by an outside agency engaged by the company to conduct background checking, the results of which must meet our employment requirements. Depending on your assigned duties, work location, facility access, and applicable Florida requirements, you may also be required to complete an Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Level 2 background screening is required you must maintain eligibility throughout your assignment.
