Position Description:
Speech and Language Therapist
Position Goal:
The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for screening, assessing, diagnosing, and treating disorders related to speech, language, communication, swallowing, and voice.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Current Massachusetts DESE license as a Speech and Language Therapist Understanding of the Individual Education Program (IEP) process
Ability to work as part of an educational team
Reports to:
School Principal and Administrator of Student Services Responsibilities:
Conduct screenings for preschool/kindergarten students and other students as needed.
Complete standard assessments for children referred for a speech and language evaluation. The therapist will also complete three-year evaluations as required by a student's IEP.
Complete formal written evaluations and share such results at a student's team meeting. If a student is found to have a speech and language disorder, the therapist shall recommend ways to best meet the student's needs, including setting goals.
Work directly with students, individually or in groups, on students' individual speech and language goals and objectives.
Maintain data on student progress and complete progress notes each quarter of the school year.
Work with all team members, including classroom teachers and other therapists, and provide consultation services as required. Complete professional development activities to seek knowledge on current best practices.
Maintain students' FM systems as needed.
