POSITION SUMMARY

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) supports the delivery of speech-language services to students under the supervision and direction of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLPA assists in implementing speech-language intervention activities and services identified by the supervising SLP and documented in accordance with the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), applicable laws, regulations, and district procedures. The SLPA works as a member of the school's multidisciplinary team and collaborates with teachers, educational assistants, special education staff, administrators, families, and related service providers to support students' communication needs and educational access. The SLPA shall perform duties within the scope of the position, applicable New Mexico licensure and regulatory requirements, district policies, and the direction and supervision of the supervising SLP. Minimum Qualifications Meets applicable New Mexico requirements for employment and practice as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. Possession of or eligibility for the appropriate New Mexico Speech-Language Pathology Assistant credential/license, as applicable. Possession of or eligibility for the appropriate NMPED Speech-Language Pathology Assistant credential/license, as applicable. Ability to work under the supervision and direction of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and related service providers. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to establish positive relationships with students. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary educational team. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, or a related field, as applicable to state requirements. Previous experience working with children in an educational or therapeutic setting. Experience working with students with disabilities. Experience with augmentative and alternative communication systems. Bilingual or multilingual skills. Experience working in a public school or special education environment.
