Decontamination Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician (Quality Control Technician ) is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring every item meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection control.
Contract duration:
13 weeks to permanent oppotunity (Depends)
Job Responsibilities:
  • Follow all
ANSI/AAMI
standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and company Work Instructions.
  • Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and protocols.
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments as required.
  • Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets per guidelines.
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to packaging.
  • Document missing or damaged instruments per SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels.
  • Handle all instruments and customer-owned items with care to prevent damage.
  • Perform daily computer tasks and paperwork related to processing and tracking.
  • Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of one 2 years of hands-on experience in sterile processing, demonstrating proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization procedures.
  • General knowledge of surgical instruments and processing protocols.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques, including steam sterilization and infection control practices.
  • Familiarity with
ANSI/AAMI
standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs).
  • Skill in operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and other related equipment.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.
g., CRCST, CIS).
