Job Description:
Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately. Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition. Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities. Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process. Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units. Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases. Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area. Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units. Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department. Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development. Other duties as assigned.
Education:
+ Associate [Preferred] + High School Grad or Equiv [Required] + Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]
CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred] + Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Preferred]
OR•Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Preferred] •
