Job Description

Job Requirements Join the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center's Surgical Services team as a Central Sterile Supply Technician This is an excellent opportunity to play an essential role in supporting safe, efficient surgical care and hospital operations. In this role, you will clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment, helping ensure clinical teams have properly prepared supplies and instrumentation when they need them. This role is ideal for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection control.
SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday | 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On-Call Every 3rd Weekend | Saturday & Sunday | 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  • Prepare and deliver surgical case carts to support daily operating room schedules.
  • Perform biological and chemical sterilization testing and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Monitor sterilization equipment and respond appropriately to quality indicators.
  • Restock sterile supplies and maintain inventory throughout the department.
  • Follow infection prevention standards, including Standard Precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Identify and report equipment concerns or safety issues.
  • Work closely with Surgical Services and clinical teams to ensure instruments and equipment are available when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six (6) months of Central Sterile, Sterile Processing, Surgical Services, or related healthcare experience required.
  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification preferred.
  • Ability to accurately measure and prepare solutions and mixtures according to established procedures.
  • Full-time availability to work the assigned schedule, including required on-call and weekend rotation coverage.

COMPENSATION
    Pay Range:
    $18.09 - $25.99 per hour.
    • Shift, Weekend, & Holiday Differentials.
    • Benefits Package applicable to Full-Time, Part-Time, & PRN Team Members.
