Job Description:
Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Facilitates communication and collaboration within the department to enhance workflow and efficiency. Transports contaminated and sterile surgical instruments and supplies to and from operating rooms and patient care areas. Decontaminates and inspects surgical instruments for cleanliness and defects to ensure patient safety. Keeps instruments and supplies organized and in designated locations to maintain department cleanliness and productivity. Inspects and assembles instrument trays according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards. Serves as a resource expert and mentor for less experienced Sterile Processing staff. Monitors sterilization practices to ensure compliance with standards and keeps accurate records of sterilizer loads. Utilizes knowledge of sterilization parameters and takes corrective action if parameters are not met. Attends continuing education seminars and in-services on new equipment and instrumentation to maintain competency. Participates or leads in department Performance Improvement projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Sterilization Standards [Required] Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation [Required] Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology [Required] Basic Computer skills [Preferred]
Education:
Associate [Preferred] High School Grad or Equiv [Preferred] Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Eighteen (18) months Sterile Processing experience•Maintains educational requirements as outlined in the organizational checklists [Required]

N/A Licenses and Certifications:
Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required] OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required] AND Basic Life Support•CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
