Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician, where your expertise ensures the safety and well-being of patients through meticulous sterilization and handling of medical instruments. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing, sterilizing, and maintaining a wide range of surgical and medical equipment, supporting infection prevention efforts, and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. Duties Assemble, inspect, and package sterile medical instruments and surgical tools with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols. Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and endoscope reprocessors to ensure all devices meet strict sterilization standards. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies and medical equipment, accurately tracking usage and replenishing stock as needed to prevent shortages. Perform decontamination procedures on contaminated instruments, ensuring thorough cleaning in accordance with infection control guidelines. Reprocess endoscopes and other complex medical devices following manufacturer instructions for reprocessing and handling. Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking logs, and quality assurance records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Support infection prevention management by implementing healthcare infection control protocols and monitoring adherence across the department. Experience Proven experience in sterile processing within a healthcare environment or equivalent setting. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to understand the proper handling and reprocessing of various medical instruments. Familiarity with medical terminology, surgical procedures, and medical equipment operation to facilitate accurate instrument preparation. Strong understanding of infection prevention management practices, including aseptic technique and sterilization standards. Ability to operate sterilization machinery safely and effectively while adhering to all safety protocols. Excellent organizational skills for inventory management and documentation accuracy. Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician from an accredited organization is required; additional certifications in infection control or endoscope reprocessing are a plus.
