In this vital role, you will provide essential support during surgical procedures, ensuring that all medical equipment, instruments, and supplies are prepared, sterilized, and functioning optimally. Your expertise will directly contribute to delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment. Duties Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing and organizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures by passing instruments, managing surgical tools, and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies Monitor and operate medical equipment such as endoscopy devices, cardiovascular monitors, and other specialized tools during surgeries Collect and document patient data including vital signs, physiological measurements, and procedural details accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or EMR systems Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention standards through proper sterilization procedures and hospital infection control policies Support patient care activities by ensuring comfort, safety, and proper positioning before, during, and after surgery Assist with the treatment of fractures, trauma care procedures, orthopedic surgeries, neurosurgery assistance, pediatric interventions, and other specialized surgical disciplines as needed Requirements Proven experience as an Operating Room Technician or Surgical Technologist in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical procedures across various specialties including trauma care, cardiovascular surgery assistance, neurosurgery assistance, orthopedics, pediatrics, and endoscopy Hands-on experience with medical equipment operation and sterilization techniques for surgical instruments Ability to perform suturing and basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS), electronic health records (EHR), and EMR systems like Epic is highly desirable Excellent analysis skills for monitoring vital signs and physiological data during procedures Strong understanding of aseptic technique principles to prevent healthcare-associated infections Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments within Level I or Level II trauma centers or critical care units such as ICU or PICU settings Demonstrated commitment to patient safety through infection control practices and healthcare hygiene standards Join our team if you're passionate about supporting life-saving surgeries with precision and care!
