Eastern Connecticut Pathology Consultants (ECPC) Position Summary Eastern Connecticut Pathology Consultants (ECPC) is seeking a full-time Surgical Pathology Technician to support surgical pathology operations at several of our hospital locations throughout Connecticut, mainly in Waterbury and Bristol. This is a first-shift position with travel between assigned hospital sites. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working independently, and interested in surgical pathology and laboratory medicine. Responsibilities

• Examine, describe, and prepare surgical biopsies and small excision specimens in accordance with the Surgical Pathology Procedure Manual and established protocols.
• Generate accurate gross descriptions using voice-recognition and dictation software.
• Verify and maintain accurate specimen identification throughout all stages of specimen handling.
• Maintain required quality assurance and quality control documentation and logs.
• Receive, accession, and process surgical pathology specimens as needed.
• Perform specialized specimen handling, including specimen radiography, photography, special fixation, and preparation of specimens for send-out testing.
• Assist with preparation of pathology materials for hospital conferences and presentations.
• Provide coverage for surgical pathology laboratory aide responsibilities as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe surgical pathology work environment.
• Follow all applicable laboratory safety, infection control, regulatory, and departmental procedures.
• Communicate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and other hospital personnel.
• Perform other duties as needed to support surgical pathology operations. Education and Qualifications Required
• Bachelor's degree in biology, health science, or a related scientific field.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn laboratory information systems and voice-recognition software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to specimen accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a laboratory team.
• Ability and willingness to travel between assigned hospital locations in Connecticut. Preferred
• One or more years of hospital or clinical laboratory experience.
• Previous experience in surgical pathology, histology, specimen processing, accessioning, or a related laboratory environment. Schedule

Pay:

$27.00 - $29.00 per hour
