Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures
- Set up surgical instruments and equipment
- Ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are available and in working order
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other team members during surgery
- Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure
- Assist with patient positioning and draping
- Monitor and document patient vital signs during surgery
- Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis
- Assist with post-operative clean-up and equipment sterilization
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures
- Familiarity with infection control protocols in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting
- Ability to analyze situations and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a surgical team
