Job Description

Food Service Baker/Assistant 7 Hours

High School Food Service Manager

JOB SUMMARY Works with Food Service team members preparing nutritious and attractive meals for students and staff with an emphasis in baking food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements, this position is also responsible for maintaining a clean kitchen and cafeteria and observing all Health Department regulations to create a safe and healthy work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned.

Follows and maintains knowledge of applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.

Assists in the preparation of school meals to include ordering ingredients and baking cakes, pies, rolls, buns, and desserts as necessary for school lunches, school breakfast and events.

Assists in set up of serving lines and serving of food.

Measures and records accurate food temperatures.

Maintains a safe and clean working environment as well as high standard of personal cleanliness and grooming as per sanitation code and district policy.

Operates, sets ups, shuts off, breaks down, and sanitizes designated areas and items. Includes washing dishes and operating equipment.

Rotates and stocks food, condiments and supplies.

Knows, measures, monitors and follows all safety and sanitary rules and regulations related to food handling.

Assists in ensuring quality and portion control of food served.

Accurately tracks and enters lunch records, student accounts and all other accounts as required, while at the same time recognizing a reimbursable meal.

Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.

Attends work regularly and is punctual.

May transport food to other school locations and assist in serving.

Accurately measures, weights and mixes ingredients from recipes. Adjust recipes to meet serving needs to projected demands.

Estimates food preparation amounts for the purpose of meeting projected meal requirements and minimizes waste.
