Job Summary The Baker serves as the primary baker and cook for the retail convenience store, performing all duties in a self-sufficient, competent manner while meeting all health code regulations and ensuring products are appealing to customers. The Baker has primary responsibility for the kitchen area, supported by other store personnel.

Full-Time, Hourly Job Requirements 1. Perform daily market opening duties, including turning on lights, resetting alarms, preparing cash register drawers, turning on gas pumps, and unlocking market entrances. 2. Prepare coffee and turn on ovens, hot holding units, and hot cases; update scale dates. 3. Prepare breakfast items such as hot sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, and plain biscuits, using ovens and electric skillets to cook bacon, sausage, and eggs. 4. Bake items for the donut case, including breads, rolls, and muffins; bag baked items and place in the donut case. 5. Monitor and restock coffee and soft drink bars, as well as the donut case, including replenishing cups, lids, sugar, creamers, and coffee beans. 6. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen preparation area. 7. Monitor pie case for quantity and freshness; bake pies as needed to keep the case stocked. 8. Prepare and maintain a list of needed items from the walk-in cooler and freezer to minimize unnecessary trips; while in the cooler, monitor and restock drink areas as needed. 9. Inventory products for the following day's baking and meal preparation; pull necessary items from freezer or cooler and store on food storage cart in the walk-in cooler overnight. 10. Prepare luncheon menu items as directed by the Manager, from scratch or using prepackaged items requiring reheating. 11. Monitor and restock the hot case with luncheon items as needed; maintain cleanliness and proper holding temperatures to meet health code regulations. 12. Assist with Tuesday morning whole chicken cleaning and prepping, including removing tails, necks, and excess fat, and preparing chickens for rotisserie cooking. 13. Wash, sanitize, and dry dishes as needed. 14. Clean and sanitize deep fryer weekly. 15. Restock cooler items. 16. Assist customers with purchases, operate the credit card machine, and monitor gas pumps for potential drive-offs. 17. Empty trash cans and remove excess cardboard from kitchen, display areas, and restrooms; restock restroom supplies; clean counters and mop restroom floors. 18. Cross-train in other positions as assigned. 19. Perform other duties as directed by the Manager or Supervisor to ensure successful market operations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to interact effectively with the public. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to serve customers and collaborate with team members. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and basic health code compliance. Attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness. Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Additional Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Minimum two years of baking and meal preparation experience Capability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods of time.
