Café Barista A Barista at Baker Book House will be involved in all aspects of Baker's Beanery. This position's primary responsibility is to service the customer. This will include food and drink prep and service, cleanliness of the café, and assisting the Café Manager with all daily tasks. Strong preference will be given to someone with previous food experience and/or food safety certification.
Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet and service all customers wishing to order from the cafe Prepare and/or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, and tea. Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them. Prepare and/or serve menu items, such as cookies, bagels, sandwiches and soups. Answer questions regarding the cafe and its products and services. Run the Café point-of-sale system: includes receiving and processing cash or credit payment, as well as gift card and gift certificate purchases and redemptions (in-person or by phone). Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, maintaining them over time. Food Prep Weigh, grind, or pack coffee beans. Wrap, label, and/or date food items for sale. Slice fruits, vegetables, desserts, or meats for use in food service. Café Maintenance Clean and sanitize equipment and utensils as well as service and seating areas. Check temperatures of cooling and heating equipment to ensure proper functioning and food safety. Inventory stock and goods such as food and ingredients, and requisition new stock. Other tasks not on this list may be assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty listed above satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Previous Food Service Experience
Experience is a definite plus but not required. Applicants must demonstrate comfort and confidence in a food prep environment as well as a desire to expand baking and food prep skills. Availability

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, with the ability to lift, bend, and twist as required. Customer and Personal Service

Knowledge of the basic principles for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, and currency.
