We are looking for a skilled, organized, and creative Barista to join our breakfast and lunch bistro. This is a hands-on position designed for someone who enjoys the craft of making great coffee and beverages, developing recipes, maintaining an efficient beverage station, and supporting the restaurant team behind the scenes. Unlike a traditional café barista role, this position is less focused on counter interaction at present and more focused on beverage production and supporting the servers and kitchen during service. Our team will be opening an attached market space in the near future, at which time you will transition to working directly with customers over the counter. You will work closely with the front-of-house and management teams to ensure that every coffee and café beverage is consistent, well-executed, and thoughtfully presented.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare high-quality espresso drinks, coffee, tea, and specialty beverages efficiently and consistently during breakfast and lunch service. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked beverage station, including daily opening, closing, cleaning, and equipment-maintenance tasks. Work closely with servers and the front-of-house team to prioritize beverage orders and provide smooth, efficient service. Develop, test, and refine new beverage recipes, including seasonal drinks and specialty offerings, with attention to quality, consistency, and cost. Help create recipes, preparation standards, workflows, and station systems for the upcoming grab-and-go market café. Monitor beverage inventory and communicate supply needs while helping maintain proper product storage, organization, and freshness. Support the broader restaurant team as needed and contribute to a collaborative, efficient, and hospitality-focused work environment.
Experience & Qualifications:
Previous barista or kitchen experience in a café, restaurant, bakery, or similar hospitality environment. Knowledge of espresso preparation, coffee, milk steaming, and beverage-crafting techniques. Interest in developing, testing, and refining beverage recipes. Strong attention to detail, organization, and consistency, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to support servers and the broader restaurant team. Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in a hot, busy kitchen environment. Regularly required to reach with hands and arms and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Ability to verbally communicate and hear. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance. Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen and restaurant setting. Exposure to cold, heat, sharp equipment, and loud noise levels. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts while performing job duties.
