CASHIER/BARISTA JOB SUMMARY
The cashier/barista is responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and accurate service at the Hampton Lodge Food Court. This role includes operating the cash register, handling cash and sales transactions, preparing espresso drinks, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness. The ideal candidate works well in a fast-paced environment, keeps a positive attitude, and delivers exceptional guest experiences in a team-oriented setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Cash Register Operation:
Operate the assigned register efficiently throughout the shift, handling transactions accurately.
Cash Handling and Reconciliation:
Maintain and balance the cash bank, reconcile receipts with sales reports and register tapes.
Sales Reporting:
Complete daily cash sales reports and assist with inventory tracking as needed.
Beverage Preparation:
Prepare espresso and specialty coffee drinks to meet quality standards.
Restocking:
Replenish drinks, food coolers, condiments, cups, lids, and straws to ensure smooth service.
Cleaning and Bussing:
Maintain cleanliness of the Food Court and deck, bus tables, and complete end-of-shift cleanup.
SKILLS REQUIRED
Cash Handling Expertise:
Strong accuracy and reliability in managing money and transactions.
Customer Service Oriented:
Deliver friendly, courteous, and helpful service to all guests.
Food Service Knowledge:
Basic understanding of food handling, bussing, and service procedures.
POS System Proficiency:
Experience operating cash registers and related point-of-sale technology.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Possession of a valid Washington State Food Worker Card and adherence to food safety standards.
Teamwork and Adaptability:
Work well under pressure in a busy environment, maintaining a positive, cooperative attitude.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift. The role involves frequent lifting of items up to 30 pounds, as well as repetitive use of hands for operating the cash register, cleaning, and restocking supplies. The ability to maintain focus and efficiency in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment is essential.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most work is performed indoors within the Hampton Lodge Food Court, with occasional duties requiring outdoor activity for restocking or cleanup. The environment is fast-paced, guest-focused, and team-driven, requiring strong communication skills and professionalism to provide a positive experience for guests and coworkers alike.
