Job Description

Server/Bartender One of Litchfield's premier dining establishments is now accepting resumes for a Server/Bartender. Arethusa al tavolo is located in the town of Bantam in Litchfield, Connecticut. We are a fine dining restaurant that prides itself on both its cuisine and its service. We feature and celebrate the dairy products from our own Arethusa Farm, home to Grand Champion Show Cows and their award winning dairy products. Since opening in June 2013, our reputation has become noted as one of the premier restaurants in the state, as well as nationwide by earning Open Tables Top 100 Restaurants in the Country list 4 consecutive years; as well as Best Overall Restaurant, according to Open Table ratings and its reviewers. Our clientele are discerning and sophisticated. These positions require a passion for hospitality, to provide each guest with the best possible dining experience. QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
Warmly greet all guests promptly. Know all food and beverage offerings and the ability to steer and recommend. Proper prep, setup and breakdown of bar service area and beverage storage areas. Keep service area clean and organized. Take and enter orders in to the POS. Prepare service bar orders. Prepare beverages quickly and efficiently, following written and visual standards. Follow company service steps and standards at all times. Ensure proper payment of departing guests. Good knowledge of both verbal and written English. Provide legible communication and directions. Compute basic arithmetic. Physical ability and stamina to carry heavy items and stand for long hours. Possess good personal hygiene. Availability to work various shifts, including weekends. Multi-tasking abilities. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment Ability to: Focus attention on guests needs, remaining calm and courteous. Think clearly, quickly, maintain concentration and make concise decisions in pressure situations. Focus attention on details. Perform job functions with minimal supervision. Suggestively sell and up sell selected food and beverage items. Prioritize and be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service within any period of time. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. Access and input information into P.O.S. system. Maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly. Understand guests' service needs. Follow directions thoroughly.
Desirable:
High school graduate or equivalent training certificate. Experience in similar position dealing with the general public. Restaurant service experience. Certification in alcohol awareness program. Certification of previous training in wine, food and liquor service. Previous culinary training. Certification in CPR. Food handling certification. Previous guest relations training. Prior experience with the Open Table booking system.
