The Busser (also called a Bus Person or Dining Room Attendant) is responsible for clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables to maintain a smooth and efficient dining room. Bussers support servers by refilling water, delivering bread service, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring tables are ready for the next guests. Their work directly impacts table turnover speed and overall guest satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The Restaurant operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week. Clear plates, glasses, silverware, and napkins promptly after guests finish each course or leave the table. Reset tables with clean linens, polished glassware, aligned place settings, and stocked condiments according to restaurant standards. Maintain dining room cleanliness, including wiping tables, sweeping floors, straightening chairs, and cleaning booth seats. Refill water glasses and assist with bread or condiment service when applicable. Carry bus tubs to the dishwashing area safely and efficiently. Communicate table status to servers and hosts to support seating flow. Assist servers with food running or guest needs during busy periods (depending on venue).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Attention to detail in table setup and cleanliness. Teamwork and communication with servers, hosts, and kitchen staff. Customer service awareness, including reading guest cues when clearing during meals. No formal education required; food handler certification is helpful but optional.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Lifting Fifty (50) pounds maximum. Constant standing & walking required. Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
