Food Service Manager and/or Food Service Director
DEFINITION
: Under close supervision, assists with the preparation and serving of food for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

TASKS :
Assists teachers with students in a lunch room setting. Assist with preparing a variety of foods to be served; sets up serving line; washes fruits and vegetables; prepares food for cook; prepares snack bars, salads and salad bars; serves food; cleans and maintains serving line, dining room and kitchen during and after service of food; cleans spills during food service to ensure a safe environment; prepares food for next meal or next day. Cleans tables and floors; sweeps and mops floors; takes out trash; loads and unloads dishwasher; puts dishes, pots and pans in appropriate places; assists with stocking of groceries. Responsible for student supervision during lunch periods and performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
: Knowledge of basic food preparation procedures. Knowledge of basic safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen. Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points. Skill in monitoring and assisting students. Skill in the safe utilization of kitchen utensils and equipment. Skill in following oral and written instructions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to hot ovens, dangerous equipment, cleaning solutions and chemicals.
QUALIFICATIONS
: High School Diploma or equivalent. Ability to possess or obtain Food Handler Certification. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
