Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

To perform routine duties in connection with providing dietary services for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Responsible for tray setup for patient/resident food service following posted or individual menus.
  • May work cold or hot stations on tray service line, placing appropriate foods on trays for regular or modified diets.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of work area and for safe and sanitary handling of food, equipment, and supplies.
  • May deliver trays and/or loaded food carts to nursing area or LTCC dining room.
  • Busses dishes, trays, and food for dining rooms; loads, unloads, and cleans food carts.
  • May prepare and/or deliver beverages, between meal snacks, nourishments, and late tray service.
  • Loads, operates, and cleans dish washer, garbage disposal and other equipment.
  • Maintains sanitary conditions in the work area.
  • May assist residents and/or patients with menu selections.
  • May record resident and/or patient food and fluid intake.
  • Prepares coffee and tea for use in catering, cafeteria, and resident areas.
  • Assists in receiving and storing food and supply deliveries.
  • May occasionally assist in light cooking, such as pancakes, French toast, eggs, etc.
  • Act in compliance with federal and state sanitary regulations as well as facility infection control guidelines and dietary policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
  • Performs a variety of cleaning-related and other general duties including washing walls, ceilings, vents, and sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Attends meetings and in-service sessions, as directed.
  • Requires regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Performs other assigned duties.
Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not oversee other positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Successfully complete a Serve Safe course as soon as it is offered after employment.
    Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience in commercial kitchen is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in hospital/nursing home food service is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to follow recipes and directions accurately
