Mira's Cafe

Part-Time Video Gaming Cafe Attendant (Weekend Days)

Entry-Level JobVerifiedNo experience needed

Job Description

Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 3pm. No late nights, and you're home by mid-afternoon. Mira's is a small video gaming cafe with a light bar. We're hiring one part-time person to run the place on weekend days. Same two shifts, same hours, every week. If you want extra income without giving up your weeknights or your real job, this is built for that.
This works well if you:
Already have a full-time job and want a second one that doesn't eat your evenings Are retired or semi-retired and want a reason to get out of the house a couple days a week Work from home all week and are ready to talk to actual humans Have your weekdays committed to family and your weekend mornings free The pay: $15.00 per hour, and this is a tipped position. Our guests tip well, so what you actually take home per hour can be higher than the base rate.
The schedule:
Saturday 9am to 3pm and Sunday 9am to 3pm. That's 12 hours a week you can count on. If you want more, we have weekday shifts you can pick up, usually 3 to 6 hours each. Either way you won't go over 20 hours a week.
What the job actually is:
You're the only person working the shift, so the tone of the place is yours to set.
That means:
Greeting guests, taking orders, and making people feel like regulars Pouring beer and wine. That's it, no cocktail menu, nothing complicated Prepping light food (we train you, no kitchen experience needed) Keeping the cafe, the bar, and the video gaming area clean and stocked Handling the shift on your own without someone standing over you It's a small business with a laid-back pace. It's not a chaotic restaurant rush. You'll meet a lot of different people over the course of a shift.
What we need from you:
You must be 21 or older. We serve alcohol and we have a video gaming floor, so this is a hard requirement with no exceptions. Show up, and show up on time. This is the single most important thing. Be friendly and easy to talk to. Guests remember the person behind the counter. Be comfortable working alone and finishing what needs to get done.
Certifications:
We pay for them. You can do both on the clock during a slow shift. We're not asking you to do it on your own time. You'll need two state certifications, and Mira's covers the full cost of both: Illinois Food Handler certificate. Required within 30 days of your start date. It's a short online course and test. Illinois BASSET certification for serving alcohol. Required within 120 days of your start date. Also online and a short test. You don't need either one before you apply, and you don't need to pay for either one. We'll walk you through it. No restaurant or bar experience required. We'll teach you everything.
