Job:
This position is primarily responsible for providing direction and leadership to the front of the house, cafe, and retail operation(s), and assisting with the implementation of GHA's self-directed dining program. Incumbent responsible for maintaining high standards in service, resident relations, costs controls, staffing, safety, sanitation, training and special functions. Incumbent is also responsible for recording, reporting, and maintaining all operational and sales stats for the Dining Room, cafe, and catered events. The pay for this role is: $75k-$85k based on experience
Duties:
1. Directly responsible for front of the house, retail, and revenue generating operations for all Dining Service venues within GHA. 2. Directs departmental activities (e.g. meal service, food production, catering activities, tray service, and merchandising). 3. Manages employees within the framework of teamwork and empowerment. 4. Circulates in dining areas and on HCC/AL floors during meal periods to field resident/guest comments pertaining to service and food quality. 5. Trains staff in customer service, proper portioning, cashier skills as well as safety and sanitation. 6. Manages the scheduling and job duties of front of the house, retail staff, and oversees payroll. 7. Maintains effective resident relations. 8. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, evaluating and counseling of all staff. 9. Assists in the predicting, planning, monitoring, evaluation of cost programs, daily purchasing and maintenance of food preparation system, order book, recipe file, inventory, and storerooms, as assigned. Conducts team meetings. Participates in menu planning, writing and advertising. 10. Uses proper methods for food handling/infection control when managing and producing items. 11. Responsible for cash handling and record keeping in relationship to retail operations and or catering functions. 12. Assists in menu and product development for all Venues. 13. Implements Corporate and Community programs as directed by DDS. 14. Implements and maintains cash handling standards as outlined in the GHI Policies and Procedures Manual to eliminate theft of services or Company funds. 15. Interacts daily with production team to assist in effective production practices and strong financial focuses. 16. Completes all daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in the department policies and procedures on a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines. 17. Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures as evidenced through local health department and third-party audits.
Job Qualifications:
1. Minimum of five (5) years food service management; experience with retail or upscale dining experience a plus. 2. Experience in retirement living food management is a plus 3. Must have solid understanding of cash handling and tracking procedures 4. Serve Safe Food Protection certification 5. Must have solid experience with financial management 6. Must have experience with training and development of front line staff 7. Experience working with multi-level management teams is a plus 8. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Publisher is a must 9. Must have experience developing dining programs and implementing procedures 10. Clear understanding of the flow of operations for a dining establishment 11. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data and share findings with appropriate management levels 12. Must have outstanding customer service skills 13. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English A sampling of our many benefits!
