Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia is a large, vibrant church engaged in a broad range of ministries and activities for the parish and the larger community. As part of our program offerings, we provide parish dinners after our Wednesday and Sunday evening services, serving 50
- 80 members, as well as other receptions that include refreshments.
This part-time position serves as an integral part of our facilities support staff and is crucial to our ministry of hospitality.
The successful applicant will have:
- At least 3 years' experience in a food service role supporting dinners and receptions serving meals to groups buffet style.
- Must be comfortable working with people and volunteers of all ages.
- Responsible for all aspects of setup for church dinners and receptions where food is served, including room setup (buffet and dining tables, chairs, buffet tables (chafing dishes and similar equipment, plates, utensils, napkins), beverage stations and an organized and intuitive dish drop station.
- Responsible for servicing the events by restocking or refilling food and beverages offered and keeping food service areas clean and clutter free.
- Responsible for all pre-meal and post-meal clean-up including the buffet and beverage areas, washing dishes, utensils, etc., as well breaking down tables and chairs, taking out trash, sweeping and mopping areas of service, and vacuuming where appropriate. Ensure fellowship hall, kitchen and Café (when used) are ready for the next day's events.
- Ability to lift, at minimum, 25 pounds, with regularly bending and reaching required.
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Other tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends and some holidays.
- Servsafe Food Handlers Certificate not required, but a plus.
- All employees must abide by the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Employee Handbook
- Background checks are required for all positions.

12 hours per week (Wednesdays 4:30pm
- 8:30pm / Sundays 1:30pm
