Meat Reports to: Meat Manager/ Assistant Meat Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Cuts, trims, bones, and grinds meat to portion and prepares quality meat department products to be displayed, while providing standard customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(responsibilities include, but are not limited to):
Greets customers when within ten feet and four seconds of contact
Cuts different types of meats, poultry, and seafood
Stocks and rotates meat items, to maintain freshness and quality, removes damaged items from cases, maintains price integrity
Packs meat products on trays, then forward to wrapping
Reworks older meats by marinating for sale
Completes basic cleaning of department, by washing and sanitizing work tools and area
Performs job duties of a meat wrapper
Works in the seafood department as needed for customer service and cutting and prepping all seafood items.
Performs other related duties as needed as assigned by manager
OTHER DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Use of proper safety procedures
Able to listen to directions and follow through independently
Have good communication and observation skills
Able to work with a team and independently when needed
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
High school / Secondary school diploma or GED
Must be at least 18 years of age to operate machinery
Possesses a food handling license
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Previous experience working with the public
Able to pass a Journeyman skills cutting test
Highly proficient in meat products preparation and uses
Working knowledge of different seafood types and cuts of meats required
Able to work with knives, grinder, slicer
Able to manage time well
Able to make suggestions to customers
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Air condition while in store, 40-50 degrees while working in the Meat department, freezer and chill.
Very fast paced
