Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef who thrives in a high-volume restaurant environment and wants to be part of a kitchen leadership team that takes pride in consistency, quality, cleanliness, and hospitality. This is a hands-on leadership position . Our Sous Chef will spend significant time on the line while also helping lead the kitchen team, maintain food quality and safety standards, train team members, and keep service running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Kitchen Manager with the daily operation of the kitchen. Lead and supervise kitchen staff during assigned shifts. Ensure all stations are properly staffed, stocked, prepared, and ready for service. Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, management, and front-of-house leadership. Step in wherever needed to keep service moving and guests happy. Food Quality & Execution Ensure every dish leaving the kitchen meets standards for quality, presentation, portion size, temperature, and consistency. Maintain proper recipes, preparation procedures, and plating standards. Demonstrate strong knowledge of steaks, seafood, poultry, sauces, sides, and high-volume restaurant cooking. Team Development Train, coach, and mentor cooks and other kitchen team members. Help onboard new employees and ensure they understand recipes, procedures, sanitation standards, and expectations. Hold team members accountable for performance, attendance, cleanliness, and food quality. Lead by example with a positive, professional attitude. Food Safety & Inventory/Cost Control Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen. Follow all health department, ServSafe, and food safety requirements. Monitor proper food temperatures, storage, labeling, rotation, and handling. Ensure proper FIFO procedures are followed. Assist the Kitchen Manager with inventory and food cost control. Assist with receiving and properly storing food deliveries. Help ensure vendors and deliveries meet quality and quantity expectations.
Requirements:
5+ years of professional restaurant kitchen experience , preferably in a high-volume full-service restaurant. Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Supervisor, Lead Cook, or similar leadership position required. Strong knowledge of professional cooking techniques and kitchen operations. Ability to confidently work multiple stations and jump into any position when needed. Experience leading and training kitchen employees. Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to remain calm and make good decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and other high-volume periods. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of a busy kitchen.
