We are a small private, Montessori school located just south of Lincoln on a 12 acre campus. We serve a little over 100 students ages 18 months to 14 years old. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu creation and food preparation to working with students and providing outstanding food for the school. Your expertise will ensure that every dish served reflects excellence, creativity, and consistency. As the culinary leader, you will foster a positive team environment, uphold food safety standards, and drive innovation to satisfy our students.. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned chef with a flair for vegetarian cuisine and extensive management experience to make a significant impact in a vibrant school setting. Responsibilities Lead the development and execution of innovative menus that cater to diverse tastes while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow, proper food handling, and adherence to food safety sanitizing procedures Manage inventory control, monitor stock levels, and coordinate food production to minimize waste and control costs effectively Ensuring timely delivery of exceptional dining experiences for students Ensure compliance with dietary department requirements and accommodate special dietary needs with precision and care Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment aligned with health regulations and safety protocols Qualifications Proven experience in food service with strong background in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management Knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures, inventory management, cost control, and food handling standards Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage shift operations efficiently Familiarity with dietary department protocols and accommodating special dietary requests Excellent cooking skills complemented by experience in hospitality, food service management, and culinary innovation Background in managing budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing inventory control processes Experience working with children preferred but not required Join us as our Head Chef at Prairie Hill Learning Center to craft memorable culinary experiences that excite the senses!
