This position is instrumental in ensuring the property is safe, well-maintained, & ready to serve guests, while supporting participates as they get situated. This is a live-in position that resides on campus, and housing & utilities are included with the compensation package & pays $17/hr. The schedule is flexible and structured to support the daily property, turnover, & resident support rather than fixed hours. Anticipated 30hrs/week & may be called upon to fill shelter shifts as needed with the majority of scheduled hours falling in the afternoon/evening when guests are present. Essential Functions & Duties
- Maintain an active, visible presence across the property, monitoring the houses/buildings & grounds for safety, security, & general upkeep.
- Ensure common areas, walkways, & entrances are ready for daily operations (e.g., paths are shoveled/cleared ahead of morning volunteer arrival, water supply is filled).
- Prepare guest beds & rooms between stays, including steaming/cleaning, so spaces are ready for the next guest.
- Help incoming guests get situated in their spaces.
- Keep a regular eye on guests & their living spaces, flagging concerns to the Executive Director.
- Identify & address minor repairs; report larger maintenance or facility issues to the Executive Director.
- Maintain a complete & current inventory of shelter supplies & household goods; communicate purchasing or donation needs to the Office Manager.
- Serve as an on-site point of contact for after-hours property issues given on-campus residence.
- Step in to fill shelter shifts during the times the shelter is filled with guests as needed.
- Report breach in security system immediately to alarm company & the Executive Director.
- Report any illegal or unsafe activity, or suspected incidences of child neglect/abuse, to the Executive Director.
- Support housekeeping, laundry, & general readiness of shelter spaces as needed. Job Skills and Requirements
- Must be comfortable living on-site as part of the compensation package.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through on property upkeep & inventory tracking.
- Comfortable with light maintenance & physical tasks (shoveling, lifting, moving furniture, etc.).
- Compassionate, respectful approach to working directly with guests and program participants.
- Good communication skills; able to flag issues & needs clearly & promptly.
- Good common sense & sound judgment, particularly when responding to after-hours or unexpected issues.
- Capable of enforcing the centers policy & guidelines while respecting guests, volunteers & staff.
- Willingness & ability to fill in on floor coverage when needed.
