This position is responsible for food preparation, menu planning, kitchen cleanliness, food safety, and maintaining compliance with health and dietary guidelines. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, enjoys working around young children, and is willing to assist in the classroom when kitchen responsibilities are completed.

Key Responsibilities Meal Preparation & Menu Planning:

Prepare nutritious lunches and snacks that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies. Plan menus in advance and submit them for administrative approval.

Food Safety & Hygiene:

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen. Properly store food, sanitize equipment and surfaces, and follow all applicable health and safety regulations.

Inventory Management:

Monitor food inventory, order supplies as needed, check expiration dates, and maintain accurate records of food purchases and expenses.

Meal Service:

Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to the preschool's daily schedule and established food safety procedures.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with teachers and administration to coordinate meal times, communicate menu changes, and ensure children's dietary needs are met.

Classroom Support:

When kitchen duties are completed, assist teachers in the classroom as needed. Help support a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for children. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous food preparation or cooking experience preferred, preferably in a childcare, preschool, school, or similar setting. Early Childhood Education/Child Development units are preferred. Food Handler's Card or equivalent certification required. ServSafe certification is preferred. Experience working with young children is a plus. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Attention to detail and commitment to food safety and cleanliness. Ability to work independently while also being a supportive member of a team. Dependable, flexible, and comfortable assisting in the classroom when needed.
